There’s been a lot of talk about the casting of Finnick Odair and Johanna Mason in the sequel to The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, but no firm news on either of those yet. However, Lionsgate confirmed today that Amanda Plummer is in as ‘Wiress‘. ’Wiress‘ is the mentally unstable but seemingly brilliant character who reveals to the other tributes that the arena is in the shape of a clock by constantly saying ‘tick tock’. She’s also the one who points out the weak spots in the force field surrounding the arena. I also think this is perfect casting.
I was reading LaineyGossip this morning and she has some insight on the casting of Finnick Odair as well. So far, out of all the names that I’ve hear, I don’t like any of them. Garrett Hedlund isn’t pretty enough, and I don’t know enough about Sam Clafin to hop on board with that. I personally think Finnick has to be gorgeous – and not the kind of man you look and think he could be handsome – but totally gorgeous. And very built. Because that’s how he was in the book. Lainey also said that the casting directors really like Cicely Tyson as Mags and I must totally agree with that as well.
So far there are some big names in this movie, with Phillip Seymour Hoffman already confirmed at Plutarch Heavensbee. I definitely think Catching Fire will be bigger than The Hunger Games, don’t you?
