The trailer for Hitchcock starring Anthony Hopkins as the title character and Helen Mirren as his wife Alma was released today and it looks amazing! It took me a minute to figure out that it was Hopkins starring as Hitchcock though – fantastic job on the make up in this film. The movie is about Hitchcock and his love affair with his wife Alma and how she supported him through the making of Psycho. Scarlett Johansson stars as Janet Leigh in the movie and looks really good circa that era.
It’s funny that this movie is just coming out now telling the story of the relationship between Hitchcock and his wife because HBO is developing their own show about Hitchcock starring Toby Jones (Hunger Games) as the famous director while Sienna Miller plays Tippi Hedren. HBO’s version is more about the creepy Hitchcock who becomes obsessed with his leading lady du jour (in this case it was Tippi Hedren while filming The Birds). HBO’s version airs on Saturday, October 20 at 9pm.
Both trailers look good and I think I’ll watch them both, but Hopkins’ Hitchcock looks to me like it might be an award winner.
