We knew it was going to get messy but I have a feeling it’s going to happen a lot faster than we though. Katie Holmes blindsided Tom Cruise by filing for divorce late last week and filing for sole custody of daughter Suri. Today Tom’s lawyer responded by saying according to the BBC;
“Tactically we can’t say where Tom will file a divorce case and if he’ll be seeking joint custody of Suri. We are letting ‘the other side’ (Katie and her team), play the media until they wear everyone out and then we’ll have something to say. It’s not Tom’s style to do this publicly. He is really sad about what’s happening.”
Hmmm, interesting choice of wording no? We all know that Katie is playing this very well but that’s because all she really has is the public. Tom has the money and Scientology behind him and Katie knows that so she has to ensure that she makes herself seem like the best parent in the eyes of the public. So far it’s working too. Just look at the comments on my post about Katie carrying Suri around all the time to see that the mom vote is very much pro-Katie.
And now RadarOnline is reporting that Katie has filed an emergency custody and support hearing in NY yesterday saying;
“Paperwork regarding Suri’s custody was filed yesterday,”
Looks like things are getting messy already. Now we wait and see how Tom will respond to Katie’s custody filing.

Wonder what the issue would be if Suri wasn’t Tom’s? Hm.
