I held off as long as I could. I heard so much about this new Taylor Swift song – We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together but I resisted listening to it for as long as I could until this weekend I was on iTunes downloading some new music and I had to listen to it. Because for the most part I like Swifty’s music, it’s just her over-earnestness that drives me a bit nuts. Well once I listened to it that was it – I was hooked. Because it’s really, really catchy. And it’s kind of a fun game trying to figure out what former celebrity she’s dated that she’s writing about. Like, is it Joe Jonas? Is it Jake Gyllenhaal? Who knows? It’s a fun game though. Like I could spend the better half of a day googling her ex-boyfriends and trying to figure out what song is written about what ex.
Taylor released the video for her new song and it’s definitely, um, interesting. She shot it in 1 take and the only part that confuses me is the band dressed up in animal costumes. Especially the 1:55 mark. Seriously – I can’t look away. Don’t they remind you of that The Bloodhound Gang video for The Bad Touch? Google it. Then there’s her style issue again. I just don’t get it. I don’t get that she’s dressed like a 1950′s housewife in the final scene when it’s a party scene. Why? Have a look and try to get this song out of your head for the rest of the day:)

My daughters were so excited that we’ve watched the video multiple times at our house. My immediate interpretation was that the band members are stuffed animals. Like, T’s some girl sitting in her room slamming down the phone and ranting to her stuffed animals about her boy problems. I have no idea if this was her plan, but it made sense to me.
But, seriously, what’s with the sweater walls?
