Katie Holmes filed for divorce from Tom Cruise today and now all I can do it look at pictures of them on the photo agencies, so I thought I would some of them so you can obsess over them too. Because that picture above is by far my favourite picture ever. That’s gold right there. They looked so in love in the beginning, no? Like she was super infatuated with him. Because why wouldn’t she be? He was TOM CRUISE and she was Joey Potter. Of course she was infatuated, and she even proclaimed that she would marry him after watching him in Top Gun. When she was, like, 10.
But eventually infatuation fades right, and she becomes just a desperate housewife who was once a promising young actress, relegated to starring in Adam Sandler movies. Not exactly the life she probably envisioned as the wife of TOM CRUISE. I wonder if we can pick out exactly when things started to change. But she was so stunning in the beginning, no? I mean, gorgeous! Thankfully she got out after only 5 years.

The picture above is a testimony to how we as a society view marriage and its purpose.
If we truly look inside ourselves and others to spend (lots of)time getting to know each other, then we can choose a partner based on all aspects of who they are. i.e. their mind, spirit and body.
We all know that the body(and the infatuation of it) fades through time and so then we are left with the mind and the spirit of our partner :if we do not love those parts, in addition to the physical, than the relationship will fall apart eventually.
