Of all the movies that have been remade I swear I never thought I would see a remake of Red Dawn. If you’ve ever seen the original you can probably admit that the movie itself was forgettable, save for the fact that none of the main characters managed to grow any facial hair throughout the entire movie. Seriously, they were this group of renegade high schoolers who are on a mission to save their town from an invasion of Russians and they lived in the hills and went all camouflage yet none of them even sported the tiniest of facial hair by the end of the movie.
I guess they’ve already remedied that with this remake since Chris Hemsworth, who takes over Patrick Swayze’s role of Jed already has the beginnings of a beard at the onset of the movie. And this time they’re not fighting Russians, they’re fighting North Koreans. And Josh Peck (who used to be a staple on Family Channel on the show Drake and Josh) plays the part of his brother that was played by Charlie Sheen in the original movie, with Josh Hutcherson taking over C. Thomas Howell’s role. So the casting is pretty on par with the original but so is the acting. I love me some Chris Hemsworth but he’s a little wooden, no? And yes, that is Connor Cruise – Tom’s son that you see in the remake. And just me or does everyone else immediately think of Denny Duquette when you see Jeffrey Dean Morgan? Can’t just be me, right?
I mean, I got nothing here. Not so excited about this one. I think the remake will be just as memorable as the original. Maybe. Check out the trailer below as well as the trailer for the original. Wolverines!
